Paper Trail
The fog rolled in, and now you're lost. You find an empty ranger cabin high on the mountain, and you remember what Nana always said: stay put, and send a signal.
So you fold paper airplanes and throw them down the mountain toward the lodge in the valley, each one a little farther than the last.
- Fly with one button. Pull up to climb, let go to glide, and dive to build speed. Learn to stretch every flight over ridges, through forests, and past the waterfall.
- Build better planes, and see them. Unlock new folds and papers, from a sketchbook page to birch bark to kite fabric. Every add-on shows on your plane: tape over the creases, paper clips on the nose, tail flaps, crayon wax, and feathers tucked into the tail.
- Throw from higher and faster. Climb from the doorstep to the woodpile, a tall pine, and a lookout tower, and upgrade from a bare hand to a rubber band, a slingshot, crossed ski poles, and a giant ski-lift spring.
- Scavenge around the cabin. Open drawers, check coat pockets, lift the tarp, and shake the branch with the kite in it. The closet, the attic, an old campsite, and more each hide four finds (and plenty of silly ones). Robber the gray jay will help, for a cracker.
- A story in a sketchbook. Every landmark your planes reach adds a moving picture to your journal, and somewhere down in the valley, someone is starting to notice the planes.
- Wait for better wind. Every throw has its own weather and time of day. Don't like the wind? Wait at the window and watch the windsock swing.
- 30 achievements to chase, with new crayon doodles for your plane as rewards.
- About 2 to 3 hours to the ending, with Free Flight afterward.
The whole game is made of cut paper: hand-cut mountains, paper birds, and a paper trail behind every plane. After each throw, a pencil map on the results note shows exactly where it flew.

Brilliant game Hyrex! Paper Trail is genuinely one of the most charming, creative, and unexpectedly addictive games I've played. Hyrex absolutely COOKED with this one. What starts as a simple premise turns into an incredibly satisfying adventure that had me hooked from the very first paper airplane throw! The flight mechanics are deceptively simple, but mastering them is so rewarding. Every dive, climb, and glide feels meaningful, and there's nothing more satisfying than watching your little paper airplane soar past your high score. Every throw makes you want to try just one more time to see how much farther you can go. The attention to detail is absolutely incredible. Being able to see every upgrade physically change your airplane is such a fantastic touch. From paper clips and feathers to different paper materials, every little customization makes your plane feel like your own creation. But what really makes Paper Trail special is its atmosphere. The mountains, drifting fog, changing weather, and peaceful moments spent waiting for the perfect wind create an experience that's both relaxing and surprisingly emotional. I'm not even kidding when I say this game is so addictive that I was playing it so much during class that my professor caught me and took away my laptop privileges. Did that stop me? Absolutely not. I just switched to playing on my phone instead. That's how you KNOW Hyrex made something special.
Absolutely worth experiencing. Hyrex, you cooked! 10/10.
Really lovely little game. The cut paper look is charming, and the pencil map on the results note is a great touch: seeing the dotted line next to my previous best made me want to throw again straight away. Upgrades feel good too. Buying the woodpile and the rubber band took me from 54 m to 74 m in one throw, so the progress is easy to feel.
One small suggestion: the page description seems to be showing raw Markdown, so the asterisks, the ### heading and the controls table appear as plain symbols. Switching those to itch's own formatting (bold and a simple list for the controls) would make the page read as nicely as the game looks.
Good luck getting Pip home!
Thanks! I'll definitely make the changes!
